It was a natural carryover that our family had an affinity for winemaking. I started at an early age helping my father. We did the entire process by hand. This helped me to understand all the basics of winemaking. Our commitment has always been to gently handle the wines without the use of grape beating, must pumps, excessive sulfites, automated bottling lines, etc. Two things my father always stressed was absolute cleanliness and to set my sites on only the finest grapes we could buy.

We always drank great wine and shared this labor of love with family and friends. As a degreed industrial engineer, I realized the need to further my education and turn the art of winemaking more into science. After years of classes at UC Davis, which helped me with the technical and chemistry background, Bruno Cellars continues to make quality red wines year after year.
